Dark Fracture is an indie psychological-cosmic horror game played in first-person. Over the course of the game, the player is faced with the character’s inner chaos – witnessing the world change around him as the barrier between reality and imagination seems to crumble.

Storyline

Dark Fracture takes place in the late '90s, set in an isolated forested region in the rural USA. You are put in the shoes of Edward: a body farm employee who is pained by his past, and only finding solace in the medicine that helps him get through the day. Edward is barely able to cope with his personal issues, which are only intensified by him living in solitude. He puts on a brave front and dutifully wakes up for work every day. His routine serves as his only anchor, but deep inside, trouble is simmering...

One night, while working the dreaded midnight shift, a chain of disturbing events draws Edward ever close to losing his grip on reality. As the very fabric of his world seems to unravel and twist. His home of the past few years is being pulled from under his feet. The cruel hand of fate once more nudging him towards disaster. One that threatens to engulf Edward's home in shadow.

Is it merely his mind playing tricks on him? Or perhaps there truly is something darker clawing at his heels, threatening to drag him into the depths? We're counting on you to figure it out: The choices you make will shape the results of his terrifying tale. Trapped between a world of horrors inspired by the works of ones such as H.R. Giger, and the unkind reality of the body farm from whence he came. Survive a twofold nightmare in Dark Fracture!

This game is great! It was really fun and I got some nice scares. The game freezes at times, not sure if it's the game's or my computer's fault while recording. Anyway, the environments, the sound and game design are all looking great. I'm excited for the full release!

Please check out the video and my channel: VladMan.
Thank you!

Thank you so much for playing our prologue and uploading this cool let's play! We appreciate the feedback!

Any chance you can post or send us your system specs so we can check into the lag? It will really help us to navigate if the issue is relating to the hardware or the game itself.

Have a great week!

I have an Intel i5-4460, Nvidia GT 1030, 8GB RAM. The game runs at 60fps on medium settings.

Thank you!

Thank you for the information!

The minimum GPU system spec for using the game is GTX 560, we had to compare and sharing our findings: benchmark comparison between GT 1030 and GTX 560, you can see GTX 560 is performing a bit better, so we're pretty pleased to know you can run 60fps on medium settings on lower requirements than our minimum for GPU, especially since that the minimum requirement aren't meant to provide 60fps at Ultra/High.

We plan on optimizing the prologue better and this info was very helpful. :)

I got a chance to play the game through steam! The game is shaping up to be great in my opinion! I kept accidentally putting away key items, which had me worried haha!  Great work so far ya'll!  Made a vid.

Thank you for playing and uploading the video! :)

Really good demo! I really liked the environment and the use of the lighter and camera. Its a small nitpick but it may help feel more natural if the lighter and camera buttons were switched since they appear on opposite sides of the screen. Also, when looking for the dead bodies in the freezer section maybe a little green light to show us which is occupied?(Opening all of them is not that fun since you can't between them) The camera flash is a bit too fast, if you could make it slower or at least have the flash fade a bit slower for us to be able to see what is in front of us. Lastly, the beginning part is a bit slow. If you could add some small jump-scares/hallucinations that would hook people to keep watching/playing a bit more. I had fun playing it and I hope to see the full release in the future!

Hi Berry, thank you for playing! We appreciate the valuable feedback and glad you had fun!

We didn't think about switching 1/2 keys, that's indeed more appropriate key bindings (although you can self-bind them in the settings menu), we will consider this into upcoming updates.

Regarding the freezers, we don't expect players to open each and every one of them, the journal notes tell you exactly which one should be occupied, we did an awful job of explaining the importance of reading through the journal notes, and it's already fixed and will be better explained in the upcoming update 3 days away.

We took notes of the rest of your feedback, thank you for taking the time to play. :)

I recently came across this game and it looked promissing, so I had to try it!

Dark Fracture offers a mix of puzzles, an insanity meter and limited resources to help you through the nightmare!

For a demo, the game already has quite a lot to offer; great atmosphere, interesting concept and mechanics, nice voice acting...

The only issue in my opinion, is how dark the game is. Even with increased brightness, sometimes it is very hard to navigate (as your light sources have limits to them), which was a bit annoying and frustrating..

Other than that, definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of horror games!

I also played the game for my channel, feel free to have a look!

Thank you for playing and the valuable feedback, glad you enjoyed the game. We already took note of the darkness in the game and made it easier to handle through several aspects, new update will be available in matter of days :)

(+1)

Honestly loved it. The only thing I'd consider changing is the blood trail, because it seems to lead to every room in the complex, but that's not a huge deal. Good luck with the final project!

Thank for playing! Glad you enjoyed it.

We noted the trails matter and it will be adjusted in the coming update a week or two away.

This is, by far, the best AAA horror game I have seen to date!!! It surpasses Resident Evil by far and is definitely a must-play for anyone who loves the horror genre and loves a well-polished game!! 10/10

Thank you so much!

It’s been awhile since I’ve played a game as scary as Dark Fracture. There is a subtlety as you’re introduced to the main character and story; things feel “off”, but you can’t put your finger on it.

But as that tension builds, events occur, not only more frequently, but are much more intense and in-your-face. Visually stunning, my favorite parts of the experience required me to rely on very little light and, worse yet, actually become tentative to use my light sources at all, simply because I wasn’t so sure if I actually wanted to see what was in front of me.

I can’t wait to see how the finished product turns out!

(+1)

Thank you very much for playing, we truly appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed the demo!

Just played through the demo the other day and was really impressed! Looking forward to the full release of the game!

Thank you so much, looking forward to watching your let's play!
